Why See The Brothers Size?

Oscar Winner Tarell Alvin McCraney's The Brothers Size

The Young Vic's rousing new season of works features a host of award-winning writers and plays, including the hotly anticipated revival of Academy Award winner Tarell Alvin McCraney's The Brothers Size. Last seen on the Young Vic stage in 2007, the critically acclaimed drama was McCraney's first ever work and garnered him the 2009 New York Times Outstanding Playwright Award.

The story melds the realities of life after prison with the hallmarks and tradition of the West African Yoruba mythology. Ogun Size has spent the best part of his life in pursuit of his career running an auto-repair shop, whilst his brother Oshoosi has no such ambitions. Having just returned from prison, the easygoing Oshoosi is heckled by Ogun to work and start life afresh, but the once aimless wanderer yearns for more.
