Mean Girls is coming to London
News Desk, October 3rd, 2023October 3rd marks the official Mean Girls day and this year brings fantastic news for musical fans!
So fetch! After years of speculation, Tina Fey's Tony-nominated musical adaptation of her sublime 2004 film has finally announced dates and a venue for a much anticipated London run! Set to begin performances at the Savoy Theatre from June 2024, the show features a book by Fey, music from Jeff Richmond, lyrics from Legally Blonde's Nell Benjamin and direction from Book of Mormon's Casey Nicholaw.
It's hard to believe it's been nearly 20 years since Tina Fey's smart, funny and emotionally engaging movie came out and introduced us to Cady Heron's high-school food chain, ruled at the top by a trio called 'The Plastics', a group of menacing popular girls with social scare tactics more terrifying than pride of lions. In light of the years that have passed (there probably weren't even like, computers back then), Fey has brought the musical into the present day, where the Plastics have added Snapchat, WhatsApp and Instagram to their legion of weapons.
So dig out your Wednesday pink and get ready to join Cady as she swaps the wilds of Africa, for the wilds of high school...this time with songs!
