Were The Critics On Their Feet For This New Bio-Musical?

On Your Feet! is now playing at the London Coliseum.
After a scintillating two year run on Broadway the Gloria and Emilio Estefan bio-musical, On Your Feet!, has danced its way in the West End. Opening at the London Coliseum last night (27 June), what did the critics think?
The Guardian was full of praise for the musical, especially for its leading lady Christie Prades (who plays Gloria Estefan) saying, "the show is carried by a superb performance from the Miami-born Cuban-American Christie Prades as Gloria". They continued with "At its best, Jerry Mitchell's show is about immigration and assimilation, about the after-effects of the Cuban revolution, about how culture mutates in exile", beforeing finishing with "the rhythm really does get you".

The Stage dubbed the musical as "pretty irresistible" before continuing the praise for Prades, saying, "she's a scintillating presence as Gloria, with a wonderful voice, and there's palpable chemistry between her George Ioannides' Emilio".
iNews commented on Gloria and Emilio's legacy, saying, "Estefan's, and art like it, is a culture itself, not something to be observed but something to feel part of", before finishing with, "By the irresistible finale, everybody, of course, was on their feet."
