Anne Washburn Returns With A New Trump Commentary

Following her critically acclaimed runs of Mr. Burns and The Twilight Zone at the Almeida Theatre in recent years, American playwright Anne Washburn returns to the renowned theatre hub with her third offering, Shipwreck. Whilst its subject matter may veer away from The Twilight Zone's sci-fi horror undertones, the brand new production's Trump-centred theme may prove the old adage correct, that fact is indeed stranger, and far more sinister than fiction! Washburn and British stage and screen director Rupert Goold cordially invite you to dinner with the 45th President of the United States...

Nightmarish, twisted and darkly funny, Washburn's Kubrick-esque comedy binds US current affairs with global political shifts, and its opening in February 2019 comes just one month before the UK's departure from the EU. Through the strange prism of a dinner party with the controversial Commander In Chief himself, as well as a cast of real life characters including former FBI director James Comey and the late George W. Bush, the audience is given glimpses of the struggles faced by both liberals and Trump supporters, posing the universal questions "How did we get here?" and "Where are we going?" with stunning, terrifying results.
