Now celebrating half a decade of bringing their eclectic brand of kid-focused history to the West End stage, Horrible Histories is now bringing the scariest, the grossest and downright weirdest figures from past shows in one "Best of" show. At the moment, the characters featured are a mystery, but we like to think that bolshy Boudicca and horrid Henry VIII will be making an appearance!
With a history that spans thousands of years into the past, this Britain of ours boasts a legacy that can appear downright daunting to discover for little ones. CBBC's Horrible Histories is the brainchild between the kid's channel and Lion Productions that aims to teach kids history by including the fun and grosser aspects that are often left out in the classroom. The winner of multiple BAFTA Awards for its six seasons so far, the show took to the stage for the first time in 2011 in London's West End, and then touring the country, and then the world!
This newest show is a collaboration between Neal Foster and The Birmingham Stage Company, and currently holds the top spot as the longest-running kids' show in the West End. However, way before the stage and the TV shows were the hugely successful book series by Terry Deary, who has written 50 Horrible Histories titles with a humungus 25 million sales throughout 40 countries.
