A high flying fantasy tale wings its way to London's Arcola Theatre for its UK premiere
In keeping with their maxim of trailblazing theatrical works, London's Arcola Theatre proudly presents the UK premiere of the riveting mother-daughter ghost story Anna Bella Eema. Penned by Pulitzer Prize finalist Lisa D'Amour, the writer behind dramas Detroit and Airline Highway, the modern day fable fuses the supernatural with a tender coming of age story, woven together by spoken word and song.
Told by three women who never leave their chairs, the vibrant story comes to life thanks to their musical way of storytelling. In a world filled with dying vampires, policeman who disguise their undead nature and a mother plagued by agoraphobia, 10 year-old heroine Anna Bella struggles to makes sense of her surroundings and call of adulthood. When her trailer park home is threatened with demolition, she creates a mud twin named Anna Bella Eema for companionship and guidance.
