Jack and the Beanstalk

Jack and the Beanstalk at Hackney Empire

Why see Jack and the Beanstalk?

Mischief & Magic Beans!

A towering festive adventure awaits this winter season as the family favourite panto Jack and the Beanstalk lays its roots at Hackney Empire, with Olivier Award-winner Clive Rowe starring and directing! With a bit of luck and clever thinking, can Jack outsmart his way out of some giant-sized trouble? Oh yes, he can. Fee-fi-fo-fum, it’s time to smell some serious panto fun!

What’s the story?

When Jack swaps his family’s cow for a handful of mysterious magic beans, things quickly start to sprout out of control. A beanstalk bursts through the earth and rockets him high above the rooftops into a world in the clouds, where trouble is never far behind.

Up there lives a fearsome giant with a booming voice that shakes the skies - and he’s got a nose for trouble. Jack soon finds himself stuck in a world of golden treasures and towering castles, where one wrong step could mean a very long fall. But of course, this is panto land, so expect huge laughs, sing-along songs, outrageous costumes, and dazzling dance numbers.

Not for the kids - so just take them to a traditional panto

This was my first palladium Panto but I had heard much about them - definitely more of an adult Panto, than the traditional "he's behind you nonsense," and it didn't disappoint. If you have sense of humour, you'll love it - if you don't or are one of those easily offended soft type, don't go.. it's too much fun for you, sorry. :) ... Read more

Wonderful

What a fantastic way to get into the Christmas Spirit. Julian Clary already had his fellow actors ( along with all the audience) laughing. The scenery, costumes and lighting are spectacular and the beanstalk is an unexpected addition. If you can get to see this panto you won’t regret it- haven’t laughed so much for a long while. ...
