Allegra is a brand-new comedy by the celebrated, Tony and Olivier Award-nominated playwright Peter Quilter (End of the Rainbow). Coming to London's Harold Pinter theatre, Maureen Lipman (See How They Run, Coronation Street) has been announced for the world premiere. Her first major outing in two decades, Lipman is one of Britain's most beloved stage and screen actors, and Allegra marks a new collaboration with Quilter following their West End success with Rose.
What Is The Story?
Allegra is a woman whose joy is so abundant it refuses to stay contained. She breaks into song in kitchens, shops, streets and cafs. This spontaneity unsettles the calm in her sleepy village, and when police are called her protective brother and devoted carer are faced with a delicate dilemma; how do they protect her joy while appeasing the society around them?

Just fantastic
This was a lovely ‘heart warming’ show, perfect if you are looking for some happy escapism for a couple of hours.
Laugh out loud funny with likeable characters, Dame Maureen steals the show.

Allegra was absolutely hilarious from start to finish. The plot was clever, well-paced, and kept me entertained the whole way through. The cast delivered brilliant performances, with perfect comic timing that had the audience laughing throughout. It’s one of those shows that never loses momentum and leaves you smiling long after it’s over.
