Tartuffe (Remixed)

A brilliant new take
Why see Tartuffe (Remixed)?
Moliere Reimagined
Oscar, BAFTA, Olivier and Tony award winner Mark Rylance leads the cast in a brand new adaptation - a remix, if you will - of Moliere's 17th Century satirical classic Tartuffe! Adapted and directed by Intermission Youth Theatre's artistic director Darren Raymond following his much praised remixes of Shakespeare, the production brings the story up to date for the modern age and re-sets the scene into the household of an African-Caribbean family. Also starring alumni from Intermission Youth Theatre, an organisation in which Rylance serves as a Trustee, don't miss this fantastically funny new take on a comedy classic.
What Is The Story?
In Moliere's original, a wealthy man, Orgon, falls under the sway of Tartuffe, a pious-seeming con artist. As Tartuffe ingratiates himself deeper into the household with his fraudulent talents, seduction and good old-fashioned manipulation to get his hands on their fortune, the rest of the family races to reveal his true nature before it's too late. Darren Raymond's Tartuffe (Remixed) reimagines the scene in a contemporary African-Caribbean household, putting a refreshing new spin on a play which has proven to be Moliere's masterpiece with myriad revivals around the world each year.
