Kiss of the Spider Woman
A dreamlike play with little oases of draconian torture and unending routine, it really does draw you into its quietly seductive web
It is a remarkable story, which leaves a lingering reminder of our ability to hate and fear as well as our ability to connect deeply to another person.

Join the Menier Chocolate Factory for this new adaptation of Manuel Puig's provocative novel about the unlikely bond that blossoms between two cellmates as they pass the time in a Buenos Aires jail. Navigating the themes of friendship and unexpected love in captivity will be Samuel Barnett (The History Boys, Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency) and Declan Bennett, who'll star as window dresser Molina and political prisoner Valentin respectively.
First penned in 1976, Puig's novel has seen more than a few adaptations over the years, including Kander and Ebb's 1993 musical and an Oscar-winning film. Allan Barker, who translated the play for Puig's own 1983 production returns to collaborate with The Motorcycle Diaries' Jose Rivera for this highly anticipated new staging.
