Hugh Whitemore's infamous Pack of Lies receives long awaited revival!
First premiering at the Lyric Theatre back in 1983, Hugh Whitemore's Pack of Lies receives its long-awaited revival at the Menier Chocolate Factory this October. In this tense and tumultuous play, loyalties are tested when the threat of national security brings one couple to the edge.
Adapted from Act of Betrayal and based on a true story, this latest production will be the first since the plays debut back in the 80's where it starred real life husband and wife duo, Judi Dench and Michael Williams. Dench received an Olivier award for her performance. Continuing the family business is their daughter, Finty Williams, who steps into her mother's shoes as Barbra opposite a cast that includes Tracy-Ann Oberman and Chris Larkin.
Based on a true story, Pack of Lies centres around the Jacksons, a perfectly nice middle aged English couple whose next door neighbours, the Canadian Krogers, are their best friends. When a detective from Scotland Yard turns up, the Jacksons' world is turned upside down, their house is needed as an observation station to scupper a Soviet spy ring. As Scotland Yard's demands increase, the Jacksons are put to the test, especially when they are asked to set a trap on their friends the Krogers, who, as it turns out, are the couple the detective is after...
