Why see Pride?

Stage Adaptation

A brand-new stage musical adaptation of Pride is set to bring one of Britain's most uplifting true stories to life. Produced by P&P Productions and the National Theatre, the production is helmed by director Matthew Warchus and writer Stephen Beresford, who reunite after collaborating on the BAFTA-winning 2014 film of the same name. With a musical score by Christopher Nightingale, Josh Cohen and DJ Walde, this major new musical brings the moving, real-life story of solidarity and hope into new surroundings.

What Is the Story?

Set during the 1984 miners' strike, Pride follows a group of lesbian and gay activists who, recognising a shared struggle against oppression, decide to raise funds for striking miners in South Wales. Initially met with suspicion, the two communities slowly forge a remarkable alliance that transcends prejudice and politics.
