In the second of it's annual West End rep seasons, the National Youth Theatre present Selfie, a curious adaptation of Oscar Wilde's tale of narcissism, jealously and conceit, The Picture of Dorian Gray.
In the age of rampant social media and self-curating, the selfie is an important new emergence, enabling people to project their fantasy lives onto reality. In this updated version of the classic novel that questions aesthetic values from playwright Peter Morris and NYT Artistic Director Paul Roseby, the blend of reality and fantasy is explored within the landscape of the virtual age.
At the Ambassadors Theatre from September 17th, this is sure to be an interesting and fresh take on the well loved tale.
