Rob Brydon stars with a cast of 23 young performers in this boisterously funny new play by Tamsin Oglesby about British schooling through the ages. Directed by Matthew Warchus of Matilda fame, we follow a young Afghan refugee Alia, who has revolutionary ideas on how to restore British education to the top of the world league table. But despite winning a place on the prestigious Britain’s Education Research Board due to her prodigious studying skills, will anybody be willing to listen to what a schoolgirl has to suggest?
The story is told through a collection of teachers, students and their teachers in a very topical play just months after the 2015 general election results, and shows that no matter your age, when it comes to education, everybody still has a lot of learning to do.
The cast is led by Rob Brydon, who apart from having a variety of comedy plaudits to his name, has broken into stage acting in The Painkiller (staged by Kenneth Branagh next year) as well as A Chorus of Disapproval at the Harold Pinter Theatre in 2013.
