Why see High Society?

COLE PORTER'S MAGICAL MUSICAL COMES BACK TO LIFE

Three-time Olivier Award winning actress Maria Friedman takes the helm for Cole Porter's legendary feel-good musical, staged in the round at the Old Vic in a gorgeously re-imagined revival.

WHAT IS high society ABOUT?

The plot will be familiar to those who know the 1956 MGM musical film (as well as The Philadelphia Story) that starred Bing Crosby, Grace Kelly and Frank Sinatra as the entangled menage a trois. When Tracy Lord is feverishly preparing for her wedding to a wealthy, but boring upstanding gentleman, her world is turned upside down by the reappearance of her impetuous husband CK Dexter Haven, a jazz musician who is determined to win her back. The plot thickens when an unscrupulous tabloid reporter, Mike Connor, armed with embarrassing information about her father turns up to cover the wedding - where he too, falls in love with her.

The action sees Tracy embark on a journey of self-discovery as she works out which man she would rather sail into the sunset with - if any.

This musical features hit songs such as "True Love", "You're Sensational", "Well Did You Evah?" and of course, the synonymous "Who Wants To Be A Millonaire?".
