Mary Page Marlowe

Mary Page Marlowe at Old Vic Theatre

Why see Mary Page Marlowe?

UK Premiere

Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Tracy Letts' critically lauded drama Mary Page Marlow finally gets its UK Premiere at the Old Vic, directed by Matthew Warchus! With Oscar and BAFTA-winning Susan Sarandon (Dead Man Walking; The Client) and Oscar-nominated Andrea Riseborough (Birdman; To Leslie) taking the role of Mary Page during different stages of her life, the play arrives in London having premiered in Chicago in 2016 followed by an acclaimed run Off-Broadway in New York in 2018. Played by 6 different actresses in the original runs, Mary is a meek accountant in Ohio with two children, living a life that few would expect to be as intricate or moving as it is.

An Extraordinary Life In The Shadows

Her choices, both mundane and gripping, have taken her life to extreme highs to lows throughout the decades. Starting with her birth in the days following World War II, her journey took her through college, marriage, children and divorce, finally leading to a career as an accountant. Her mistakes, often crippling in their size and seriousness form only part of the path that she has taken; the complexity of her life is also made by those choices that others made, and directly affected her.
