The Olivier Award winning playwright behind The Weir and Girl from the North Country, Conor McPherson, premieres his latest work at the Old Vic! The Brightening Air is set in 1980s Ireland and follows the lives of siblings Stephen and Billie, whose decaying farmhouse becomes the stage for family conflict after the arrival of an ex-clergyman uncle, a sister-in-law looking for divine intervention, and a troubled brother.

Starring some recognisable faces including Chris O'Dowd (The IT Crowd, Bridesmaids) and Brian Gleeson (Bad Sisters), the production's creative team includes Tony and Olivier Award-winning designer Rae Smith (War Horse), five-time Olivier Award winning lighting designer Mark Henderson and sound designer Gregory Clarke. Movement and intimacy direction is provided by Lucy Hind.
