A Midsummer Night's Dream

A Midsummer Night's Dream at Open Air Theatre

Why see A Midsummer Night's Dream?

Magical Midsummer

Regents Park Open Air Theatre hosts one of William Shakespeare's best loved comedies this summer, in a vibrant new production from award-winning director Atri Banerjee! Under the summer sky in verdant surroundings, witness the classic tale of an enchanted forest full of fairy folk, lovers, and the unsuspecting mortals who stumble into it. Featuring folk-inspired original music by actress, composer and singer Maimuna Memon (The Grapes of Wrath), A Midsummer Night's Dream is a fantastic example of William Shakespeare's wit, all wrapped up in the universal theme of love and the complications that are bound to come with it. Don't miss it this summer!

What Is The Story?

A Midsummer Night's Dream follows the trials of two couples as they camp in a magical forest, the world of the fairy King and Queen who inhabit said forest, and a group of tradesmen attempting to stage a production of 'Pyramus and Thisbe' for the wedding of the Duke of Athens. In true Shakespearean comedy style, these stories don't stay separated for long and worlds collide in a spectacularly hilarious fashion. Love, action, magic, and comedy mix to create a truly magical spell.

A Midsummer Nights Dream

Amazing production with an incredible cast. Highly accessible with the delivery of original Shakespearean language in a modern way. Great comic moments with exceptional performances from Oberon (Padraic Delaney), Puck (Gavin Fowler)and Helena (Katherine Kingsley). Walliams and Shaw are of course a delight, but all of the cast really do give wonderful performances and should be noted. As someone who isn't a big theatre fan, I was happily surprised at how much I enjoyed it. ... Read more

THE BEST NIGHT AT THE THEATRE I'VE HAD FOR YEARS

What a scintillating performance. What a great night out. Sure, there are critics but with its modern spin, this performance certainly makes Shakespeare more accessible and entertaining. Sheridan Smith and David Walliams are fantastic. The performance of the entire cast was flawless and captivating. I absolutely loved it. If you're reading this review and wondering whether to go, then I'd recommend you go and see this play as soon as you can. It's remarkable! ... Read more
