Running Wild

Running Wild at Open Air Theatre

Why see Running Wild?

A thrilling new adaptation

After stunning at Chichester, Running Wild the latest of Michael Morpurgo's books to be adapted for the stage, comes to Regent's Park Open Air Theatre. The story of Will, a young boy who travels to Indonesia with his mum on holiday after the death of his father. A chance at brand new start, Will is most excited about finally getting to ride a real elephant. But when the ocean turns on the land, bringing with it the most disastrous tsunami in living memory, his holiday becomes a fight for survival that no one could have predicted.

With spectacular landscapes, life-size puppetry and immersive soundscapes recreating the sights and sounds of the rainforest, Morpurgo's novel comes to life in this gloriously imaginative and touching production of love, loss and loyalty.

Directed by Timothy Sheader and Dale Rooks, this wonderful new production looks at the events of the Boxing Day 2004 tsunami through Will's eyes and joins him on his journey through the jungle on the back of Oona the Elephant as he learns to survive and adapt amongst the animals and the humans who live there.
