The true story of the women who flew Spitfires
Inspired by the courageous, little known true stories of the women who flew in the Air Transport Auxiliary, Spitfire Girls arrives at the Park Theatre following widespread critical acclaim! The moving and heartwarming production about World War II’s lesser known heroes is written by Katherine Senior, who also stars as Bett, alongside Hannah Morrison, Kirsty Cox, Paul Brown and Daniel Copeland. Directed by Sean Aydon, critics adore this show - come and see why.
One stormy New Year’s Eve, as the curtain is about to fall on the 1950s, two women who were meet in a local pub, The Spitfire, reuniting years after the war pulled them apart. Their conversations send the audience back to the 1940s, recounting a journey that took them from quiet family farm life to riding the skies as part of the Air Transport Auxiliary, in which 10% of pilots were women. But it’s clear that the war has left them not just with stories, but emotional scars that will require healing.
