Deafinitely Theatre adapts a searing play by Mike Bartlett for a second time, following the award winning production of Contractions off-West End back in 2017. The groundbreaking company produce theatre accessible for both deaf and hearing audiences, with a bilingual approach using British Sign Language, spoken English and captioning. Directed by the company’s Artistic Director, Paula Garfield MBE, this staging of Bull continues that legacy of inclusive excellence, with an unsettling play about workplace power structures which, for some, may be more relatable than you'd like.
In a sterile office meeting room, four colleagues await a decision that will determine their professional futures. As the threat of redundancy looms, the group descends into a psychological battle, stripping away social niceties to reveal the raw cruelty of workplace hierarchies, bullying and fear. Bull is a darkly comedic yet harrowing exploration of office politics when empathy is discarded in favor of competition.
