Television favorite Mel Giedroyc performs in the Rose Theatre's 10th Anniversary production of Much Ado
Swapping the cameras and cues of the telly for the bright lights of the stage, celebrated British actress and media personality Mel Giedroyc helps celebrate the Rose Theatre's 10th Anniversary with a performance in the Shakespearean classic Much Ado About Nothing. A poignant examination of life, love and realisation in a male-dominated world, the bard's witty tale is as relevant as ever!
The production uses Shakespeare's original text while transporting the action to present day. Mafia boss Don Pedro has won a turf war making him king of his city, so naturally he and his entourage celebrate their victory at Messina, a luxury spa in the Sicilian hills. His protege Claudio falls for the hotel owner's daughter Hero, but matters become complicated when Pedro's dastardly brother's schemes threaten their happiness.
