Les Vepres siciliennes

Les Vepres siciliennes at Royal Opera House

Why see Les Vepres siciliennes?

Vengeance, Betrayal and Passion.

Verdi's epic five-act opera is back at the Royal Opera House. Les Vepres siciliennes was Verdi's first Opera written specifically for the Paris stage. It emulates the extravagance and opulence that is expected from the grande opera genre. Les Vepres siciliennes is truly thrilling with ambitious and impressive choruses, passionate duets and spell-bounding arias.

Set in Palmero, Italy this opera's plot is dominated by vengeance, betrayal and passion. Helene is set to avenge her brothers death, murdered by the hands of Montfort. She enlists the help of her lover, Henri. However, on this quest Henri is set to discover something that is sure to ruin them all.
