Richard Alston bids the UK a fond farewell during his critically acclaimed company's final tour
For over 50 years, celebrated dance master Richard Alston has crafted groundbreaking, boundary-pushing dance, and for 24 of those years, he has done so with the Richard Alston Dance Company, residing at dance and performance center The Place. Change is in the air, and as the world moves swiftly into a new decade, Alston bids a fond farewell and brings his ensemble to a close with a dazzling retrospective of his greatest works.
Alston's unique physical language shines during the company's last-ever tour, which comes to Sadler's Wells for two special nights only. Performances highlight the choreographer's penchant for music as well as dance, and include Voices and Light Footsteps (set to the music of Baroque icon Monteverdi), Shine On (set to the music of Benjamin Britten), Mazur (set to the music of Chopin) and Martin Lawrance's A Far Cry (set to the music of Elgar).
