Why see Roleplay?

The Price Of Attention

Fresh off a sold-out, critically acclaimed run at the Edinburgh Fringe, Roleplay comes to London backed by heavyweights Francesca Moody Productions (Fleabag, Baby Reindeer) and Global Creatures (Moulin Rouge! The Musical). Written by and starring comic and actor Hannah Reilly, this NSFW one-woman show is directed by Paige Rattray (Fangirls). Selected as a top festival pick in Edinburgh by Time Out, The Guardian and The Telegraph, the 70-minute production delivers a darkly funny, surreal examination of the age of the attention economy, where sexual liberation and identity become commodified in the pursuit of the personal brand.

What Is The Story?

In an era where attention is the ultimate currency, a struggling feminist podcaster decides to radically overhaul her public persona in a desperate bid for fame. But as her reinvented self begins to take off, her ability to distinguish between her authentic identity and performance begins to fall away. Sharp and provocative, ROLEPLAY tracks that downward spiral into internet notoriety, exposing the price of putting your life online for public consumption.
