Why see Nero?

New Musical From Spring Awakening Team

The Tony Award–winning creative force behind Spring Awakening re-unite for Nero, a brand new musical following the early years of one of history’s most infamous tyrants, reimagined in the modern era. Starring as the titular Roman emperor is Broadway’s Andrew Barth Feldman (Dear Evan Hansen), and the production features book and lyrics by Steven Sater and a score by Duncan Sheik. Lindsay Posner directs this epic, in what is set to be one of the most unmissable theatrical events in London this Autumn.

What Is The Story?

Nero strips back centuries of myth to reveal a reluctant young artist unexpectedly thrust onto the throne of the ancient world. As he struggles to carve out an identity amidst toxic court politics, volatile romances and familial betrayal, his drive for self-expression begins turning into an unhinged descent towards tyranny. NERO offers a gripping exploration of the interactions between celebrity and political spectacle, one with a moral that has never felt more apt in today’s socio-political climate.
