All the power of the work comes through in this marvellous production. So too does the power of ballet itself.

The English National Ballet's stunning production of this ethereal classic.
Since it's debut in Paris in 1841, Giselle has inspired ballet, creating a magical escape for enamoured audiences. Mary Skeaping's 1971 production for the English National Ballet is a firm fan favorite, with the ethereal landscapes perfectly encapsulated as Giselle moves from lovesick village girl to a supernatural entity, tricked into seeking revenge on the man who jilted her.
What is the story?
Giselle is a young, fragile village girl who falls for seemingly the perfect man, a fellow peasant. She is besotted by his mysterious character and upon his unmasking by a fellow suitor Hilarion as a betrothed Duke, she looses her mind through grief and dies tragically.
But Giselle's story does not end there. From her grave, she is summed by the Queen of the Wilis, the ethereal Myrtha, and indoctrinated into the fantasy coven of women who lead men to their deaths via the medium of dance. But will Giselle be able to kill the Duke? Or will her love for him transcend the power of evil?
