Concert Version Of Classic Musical comedy

Stage and screen stars Megan Hilty (Wicked; Death Becomes Her) and Rachel Tucker (Wicked; Hadestown) appear in a special concert version of the classic musical comedy Gentlemen Prefer Blondes! Hilty takes the role of the o.g. ‘Dumb Blonde’, Lorelei Lee - a role she is familiar with having previously played her in the New York City Center production - while Tucker takes her best friend Dorothy Shaw, in a production helmed by Tony winning choreographer and director Warren Carlyle (After Midnight). 

The original 1949 Broadway musical made a star of Carol Channing and, when the show made its way to the silver screen four years later, helped to cement Marilyn Monroe’s status as an American film icon and sex symbol. Based on Anita Loos’ 1925 novel of the same name, the musical’s book is by Loos and Joseph Fields, with lyrics by Leo Robin and music by Jule Styne. What Is The Story?

Set in the Roaring Twenties, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes follows the madcap adventures of Lorelei Lee, as she sets sail for Europe with her best friend Dorothy Shaw. As Dorothy puts it, the gold-digging Lorelei is “the only girl in the world who can stand on a stage with a spotlight in her eye and still see a diamond inside a man’s pocket.” “Diamonds Are a Girl’s Best Friend” is the crown jewel in a score that sparkles with songs including “Bye, Bye, Baby,” “A Little Girl from Little Rock” and “I Love What I’m Doing (When I’m Doing it for Love).”
