The bombastic biblical tuner makes a welcome return as London's Palladium hosts Regent's Park Open Air Theatre's award-winning production of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's glittering staple, Jesus Christ Superstar. Starring BRIT and Emmy nominated Sam Ryder as Jesus, with Olivier Award-winner Drew McOnie choreographing, Tim Sheader directs the world-renowned sensation. Amen!
What's The Story?
A true spectacle filled with demanding musical numbers like Everything's Alright, Gethsemane and Superstar, Jesus Christ Superstar begins with the arrival of Jesus and his disciples in Jerusalem and explores his struggles as well as radical political themes not explored in the Bible. It also casts Judas as a tragic antihero and offers ironic allusions to modern life.

Amazing from start to finish
If you know the musical and appreciate the soundtrack this is a must see. It's just fantastic and it left me speechless/teary/overhelmed. Not sure what someone new to the show would think. For me, it was just brilliant and I can't recommend it enough. ... Read more

Stick with the original format this was too bluesy and loud
There were some really good aspects of the show, Judas and Harrod were absolutely amazing as was Mary Magdalene, she had the voice of an angel.
I was so excited to see Sam Ryder play Jesus but honestly it was a disappointment. His voice was strong enough he sang in American accent And he couldn’t act.
The score has been quite dramatically changed and has a rock and blues element, which I really didn’t enjoy and it the music was too loud to hear the singing.
If you haven’t seen it before, I think you’d love it, but I wanted it to be more like the original which had a lot more light and shade. ... Read more

i went to bromley on the 20/02/2024 . watching a great actor owning the stage is so uplifting . ian mcintosh as jesus lifted the whole theatre . surely he is one of the biggest names to rise again in londons west end , i would truley recommend seeing the show ... Read more
