An Oak Tree
One actor knows the script. The other has never seen it.

It exposes theatre's oldest tricks the power plays, the charm, the liveness, the risk and repurposes them into something jarring and new.

Tim Crouch's An Oak Tree returns to London, playing at The Other Palace with more than a few tricks up its sleeve! Hailed as a “thing of wonder” by critics, this production sees each co-star step on stage with Tim Crouch, having never seen the script before, and features a brand-new line-up of guest performers, including Juliet Stevenson, Olivia Williams, Suranne Jones and Tanya Reynolds.
Think you know what to expect when you take your seat at the theatre? Because these actors certainly don't...
A father loses his daughter in a car accident – the man responsible for her death is a stage hypnotist. When the father volunteers to take part in his act, the two men come face to face for the first time since the tragedy.
But this isn't your typical night at the theatre. One actor knows the play inside out, while the other discovers the script in real time, with no rehearsal and no safety net. Presented by the Olivier Award-winning producers behind Fleabag, Baby Reindeer and Weather Girl, An Oak Tree is a celebration of all that makes live theatre so exciting - the risk, the spontaneity and the chance that something extraordinary might just happen in front of your eyes.
Please note: The producers can't guarantee the appearance of any performers on any specific date.
