The Wild Party

Broadway queen Frances Ruffelle stars in this volatile musical
Why see The Wild Party?
Starring the legendary Frances Ruffelle
Last staged in 2015 at The New York Center as part of their Encores season, Drew McOnie brings a new production of Michael John LaChiusa's darkly comic musical to London in 2017, starring Broadway legend Frances Ruffelle, who first came to prominence as the original Eponine in the premiere London and Broadway stagings of Les Miserables, which won her a Tony Award. The Wild Party first premiered off-Broadway in 2000, with Frozen and Wicked's Idina Menzel, together with Brian d'Arcy in the starring roles of the destructive married couple Queenie and Burrs.
A glittering but tragic musical love story set in the headiness of the Roaring Twenties, dramatic events play out over the course of a single booze-filled night, affecting everybody present. Centered around married couple Queenie and Burrs, they have since lost the spark from their once passionate and volatile relationship. Under the influence of an increasing number of hard cocktails, the pair begin a bitter game of one-up-manship, flirting outrageously with the other guests at a party to see who can bed someone first. Unfortunately, their dangerous game culminates in tragedy at midnight, after which everybody has to face reality.
