Edward Albee's The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia?

Why see Edward Albee's The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia??

A domestic breakdown like no other

Dashing Homeland and Wolf Hall star Damian Lewis returns to the West End alongside Sophie Okonado in Spring 2017 in this strange play as Martin, a happily married architect who finds his life turned upside down when he takes an unlikely lover. Replete with the late Edward Albee's wit and satirical eye, this darkly comedic work asks us to reflect on our own moral judgments in the face of a rather unexpected social taboo.

So, who is Sylvia?

Just shy of his 50th birthday, prosperous Martin seemingly has it all, fame, fortune, an incredible commission and a loving family. But all is not well as Martin's mid-life crisis reveals itself. Instead of having an affair with his secretary and buying a motorbike, Martin's tastes have taken a darker tone. He's fallen in love with a goat.

Shocked and devastated by this development, his beautiful, intelligent and supportive wife Stevie finds it utterly impossible to get to the bottom of the bizarre attachment, cueing a chaotic collapse of the life they both thought they knew.

Pushing the boundaries of understanding and liberality, The Goat, or Who Is Sylvia is a challenging play, and likely one of the year's must-sees!
