Why see Berlin?
UK Premiere
The UK premiere of Joanna Murray-Smith (Bombshell)’s compelling thriller arrives at the Kiln Theatre, following a highly celebrated Australian debut. Directed by Lucy Bailey, Berlin marks the latest in the catalogue of one of Australia’s most celebrated contemporary playwrights, decorated with awards and recently bestowed the honour of Member of the Order of Australia. An intense work that begins as a romance but becomes something much darker, don’t miss the edge-of-your-seat production.
What Is The Story?
Toms travels have taken him to Berlin, where he is wandering without any particular plan and without a hostel booked. Charlotte, a local bartender, invites him back to her place, offering for him to stay on her sofa. The instant connection between the two strangers would seem to point towards a passionate romance on the verge of unfolding, but as the sun comes up certain truths begin to come out, forcing heavy questions to be reckoned with.
