All My Sons Reviews

OUTSTANDING
Probably one of the best play i have ever seen, David Suchet is amazing and so is Zoe Wanamaker and the rest of the cast, it all went so fast that i did not realised it lasted almost two hours, stunning set and lighting and i loved the Apollo theatre. I was looking so forward to see those two actors live and my expectations were fully fulfilled.

FIRST CLASS!!
We've just got home from seeing this. It was very good indeed. I was very pleased that the stars didn't let us down- in fact they were superb. Also- the Apollo is such a beautiful theatre. Well worth the trip even if you don't like the drama.

ALL MY SONS
I saw the matinee performance on 22 May and it was spectacular. The performances by Zoe Wanamaker and David Suchet were amazing and so emotional and the supporting cast were superb. A fantastic play and one not to be missed.

SPELLBINDING
I saw the play on 20 May and was absolutely enthralled and did not want the interval to come to spoil the incredible atmosphere. The actors, particularly Zoe Wannamaker and David Suchet were first-class, the plot, the stunning stage set amounted to a superb evening in the Apollo Theatre (which is very comfortable and welcoming). At the end of the play there was a standing ovation and rightly so. May this play be a hit if it is not already

STANDING OVATION
The first standing ovation from my wife and that does not come easily. David Suchet and Zoe Wannamaker in a master class performance in acting and in truly stunning stage settings. One of the best plays we have seen in the West End. Lived up to the hype and much more... An evening to remember for a long long time...

NO TRACE OF POIROT!
One would think that anything David Suchet would do, was likely to have a touch of Poirot (the role of that celebrated Belgian sleuth he has made his own). But Suchet is a far greater actor than what Poirot reveals of him. He embodies Joe Keller in a way that few actors in this day and age can. Ably supported by Zoë Wanamaker's Katie, Suchet leads a highly capable cast that does more than justice to Miller's 1947 play on guilt and moral retribution. This remounting of Howard Davies' "All My Sons" is a must for anyone wanting a taste of how Brits do American theatre: they do it REALLY well!!

ALL MY SONS BY ARTHUR MILLER
Absolutely outstanding performances from David Suchet and Zoe Wanamaker.Suchet conveyed the depletion of paternal strength and authority very convincingly. Wanamaker was vulnerable throughout, a true victim of the consequences of Joe Keller's fears and guilt. Gripping and believable characterisations that compelled the audience to share in the discomfort of personal tragedy. Supporting actors each gave commendable performances too. The set design was excellent realism inside a showcase box. It pulled the visual focus right into the centre of the garden and hence, into the heart of the family. For those who understand the true nature of drama this is an experience not to be missed. A modern greek tragedy.

AMAZING
This was my first time at a London theatre and I found the whole experience amazing. I am a fan of David Suchet from Poirot and couldn't believe how different his acting was in this play. I was captivated from the very start. This is definitely worth going to see, in fact I would love to go and see it again.

SIMPLY BRILLIANT!
We attended the play last night, 24th June; we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. All the actors were superb, the lighting, ambiance and stage setting were of a high standard. I have never visited the Apollo before and I just loved the small, cosy feel of it. Lovely Victorian decoration with a very good view of the stage. the acoustics were good so that the actors voices were easily heard. Well done to all involved. Julie G xxx

THE MAGIC OF THEATRE
I saw the play on Saturday evening and as the crescendo built up to all the revelations in the second half, everyone in the audience was absolutely spellbound and on the edge of their seats. I must particularly thank Zoe Wanamaker for helping me describe the pain a mother feels for a lost son, flesh of her flesh... The growing guttural howl of desperation that grew from an underground whisper to the loudest groan, straight from the stomach made my hair stand on ends and completely stirred all the emotions I feel every time my sons are hurt or in danger of being hurt. David Suchet was also in my opinion, outstanding in depicting the father figure so aptly. Mr Miller could only smile upon such a wonderfully realistic and powerful performance. Thank you for casting your spell on me and for a wonderful evening

OVERWHELMING!
I wanted to stand and clap and cheer, but was too emotionally drained to do so. An incredible performance from all the cast; I don't know how David Suchet and Zoe Wannamaker in particular have the emotional strength to perform for evenings and matinees - they must be totally drained. I went home to reread the play, but had to abandon it because it interfered with the live experience. Production, scenery - everything - was marvellous.I would recommend this play to anyone who enjoys the best of British theatre.

FANTASTIC!
I was in London for an Audition and had a few hours to kill afterwards and while on my way to see the Lion King i came across 'All my Sons'. I am a huge fan of David Suchet and i couldn't resist it. I had to go see it, i didn't care how much a seat cost me as long as i got to see it and i wasn't disappointed! David Suchet and Zoe Wanamaker were born for these roles in my eyes. I was sucked in from the moment the first scene started right till the end. Their fellow actors were instrumental in their roles and complimented both Suchet and Wanamaker greatly! A must see for any theatre enthusiast or Actor and something i will go and see again if I'm in London again when its on! An inspiration for an aspiring actor like myself if ever i'd seen one :D Well done to all! Harry Haylings

AMAZING!
I was there on Monday 16th August with a friend and we enjoyed every second of it. Just sheer brilliance. The whole cast especially David Suchet and Zoe Wanamaker made it a thrilling experience to watch. We would most certainly recommend it.

WOW
What can I say. We haven't been to the theatre in London for ages and last time was awful but my husband wanted to see this as he's never seen any Arthur Miller plays. I have but not this one. Well it kept my interst right from the start. David Suchet and Zoe Wannamaker were absolutely brilliant and I was very impressed with the young boy as well. The plot and its little twists had me changing my mind as to what would happen next every few minutes. However I never anticipated the final twist. If you haven't seen this play yet and get the chance then make sure you go. I can guarantee you won't regret it. I have never written a review before but felt I had to share my enjoyment with you.

EXQUISITELY INDELIBLE!
I felt obliged to review this most compelling play having just seen the Saturday matinee 11th September 2010. However, truth be known I know very little of the arts/theatre land, not that is, as a pro critic would you understand! So this is my crude and credulous review of All our Sons in the eyes of a 35 year old stay at home mummy of four who doesn't get out much......! To say it was wonderful would seem on the surface to be an injustice, but what other words could one give? tremendous, sensational, exquisite Well it is all of these and more. I of course cried most of the way through the second act (I did say earlier I didn't get out much!) mostly in anticipation of the emotion that was to be revealed towards the end. I would be lying if I said David was not my best loved but truly the entire cast we're as equally sublime. Thank you to you all for giving me such an indelible afternoon. X

FLAWLESS.
A most thrilling and haunting play, an incredibly perfect cast (David Suchet and Zoë Wanamaker leading as a broken yet united in grief couple) and enchanting settings made it one of the best evenings of my life. Miller's words spoken with such talent and humanity, it was a dream coming true. Everybody should rush in to the Apollo to see such a marvel before it end in October. I also very much appreciated meeting the cast after the play, the actors are modest and kind : a blast.

SIMPLY OUTSTANDING
This is not a show for the faint hearted. Excellent, powerful performances from Zoe Wanamaker and David Suchet, but equally outstanding were the supporting cast. Be prepared to feel all the emotions possible of this intense and very human, emotionally charged play.

ALL MY SONS
Whilst as expected the acting was excellent, the plot is tedious and thin. The stage setting was such that when the actors were front stage left (as they were a lot) they could neither be seen nor heard from where I was sitting in the dress circle. Seats also cramped and uncomfortable. All in all very disappointing.
