Stiletto

Stiletto at Charing Cross Theatre

Why see Stiletto?

World Premiere

A brand new musical set in 18th-century Venice comes to the Charing Cross Theatre in 2025! In the 1700s, castration was a means by which poor families might find fortune, with castrated boys preserving their high singing voice into adulthood and able to take on female opera roles. Stiletto follows Marco, one such castrato whose is on the journey towards opera stardom.

When he strives to bring Gioia, a gifted singer descended from African slaves, into the limelight, the tale takes a turn. After an evening which sees a life lost and Gioia in prison, the pair must confront the trauma and corrupt power structures that hold them both captive. With music and lyrics by written by Grammy, Golden Globe and Oscar nominated Matthew Wilder and book by Olivier-nominated Tim Luscombe, Stiletto is a must-see new musical set to take London by storm.

Quirky, fun, beautiful, loved it!

I so enjoyed this show. Doesn’t take itself too seriously despite touching on some sensitive subjects. Wonderful singing and great musical backing from orchestra; even a harpist! Charing Cross theatre is a quirky slightly down at heel little place and such an opulent production sat surprisingly well in this setting. I had a great night, was fun, visually beautiful and great singing. ... Read more

Unexpectedly beautiful

We didn't know what to expect knowing it's a new musical and it was performed on quite a small stage. However we were hooked by the beautiful singing, clever lyrics, complex storyline and beautiful costumes and acting from minute one. Time flew by and the show was already over. I hope to see it again soon and I'll definitely tune into the soundtrack in the meantime! ... Read more

Veronica and family

My friend recommended this. She was right 100%. The show/plot was elaborated, performing was excellent and the songs/music fantastic. It takes you to centuries back in Italy with important topics and my children (13 and 15) absolutely adored the whole time being sat down and listening. I would see it again and hopefully the cast will be selected to play in a greater theatre as they have the talent for it. I loved listening to the harp. Staff at the theatre were friendly and it was a perfect evening out. ... Read more
