FANTASTIC ENERGY, GREAT VOCALS

We saw Grease at the Thursday June 23 matinee performance and it was amazing! The vocals were spot on, the choreography full of energy and vibrant, and the sets were beautiful. We particularly loved seeing Olivia Moore as Sandy - she was truly fantastic. Ignore the naysayers and go enjoy this show! For an extra treat, go around back after the show to the stage door and say hello to the actors after the show. They were all incredibly nice.

DON’T UNDERSTAND ANY NEGATIVE REVIEWS.

Never written a review before but felt I had to having read so many negative comments and beginning to think that we had wasted our money before attending. Wrong. We thought it was fantastic, no it doesn’t follow the film but does the film follow the original stage show. No household names ( no Louise Redknapp Peter Andre or Jason Donovan on our Night just a bunch of truly talented stage performers who have probably performed week in week out for years perfecting their craft in front of a live audience. Not a bum note or dance step to be heard or seen. Highlight was perhaps “ There are worse things I could do” by Rizzo who was fantastic throughout. Loved it all, fabulous. Loved the few additional songs to the movie soundtrack. Don’t be put off by negative reviews. Go and see it for yourself.

LOUISE REDKNAPP WAS AMAZING

I have always been a big fan of Grease and to see it live on stage was amazing. To add my favourite singer Louise to the cast as Teen Angel was outstanding. Louise’s performance was brilliant, the whole audience enjoyed it!

AMAZING

Wow, this show is amazing, went on the 26th August, the whole cast are so talented. Stand out points Marty singing Freddy The moony song ( jersey boys for this young lad next I hope) Grease lightening the young boy who plays kenickie is amazing, fantastic. The school dance, the dancing and Vince V is insanely good. ( hand jive) amazing Sandy singing Hopelessly devoted to you. Rizzo was unbelievable all the way through, called not take my eyes off her she really draws the audience in, especially her performance of there are worse things amazing, outstanding talent one to watch grow. I was very impressed as I believe she was the understudy. ( will be looking out again for her if she gets to play her again) Oh and let’s not forget Danny zuko loved him. Overall I could not fault it the cast it’s a show that can not be missed. I will be returning before it ends Thankyou Grease cast for a fantastic evening

BRILLIANT UPLIFTING SHOW

Absolute brilliant uplifting feel good show, incredibly talented cast each and everyone of them, we watched on 26/08/23 and the understudy for Rizzo was on….WOW absolutely blew me away i was mesmerised by her, she has so much stage presence and her vocals were spot on! Will defiantly be booking again before finishes in October.

JUST OK

Booked what we thought was going to be Peter Andre/Jason Donovan but alas it was false advertising! Danny didn't fit his role as was too quiet and not a strong enough voice. Sandy had a great voice but seemed to lack in personality and the sassiness of her character. Rizzo was to loud and abrupt towards Sandy in her role. Calm it down a bit and you will sound a whole lot better. Many songs are sang out of sync to the film but luckily we read reviews so knew. The dancers were fab, all worked hard and are very talented. Don't know why Sandy never put on the famous blond wig for the last song? Didn't seem right at all. Know they all work hard but just feel the wrong people are playing Danny and Sandy. Totally disappointed that neither of the big stars advertised were in the show!

I copied and pasted this review as it completely sums up the disappointing experience. "JUST OK Booked what we thought was going to be Peter Andre/Jason Donovan but alas it was false advertising! GREASE IS THE WORD

Expensive for good seats, unless you can get discounted tickets. Lots of restaurants & underground just outside the theater. Marty’s voice was outstanding. Our fav by far, she is going places. Sandy should have a blonde wig too, Seem to have a great cast who work well together. Not sure I’d go again?

DISAPPOINTED

Any Grease fan will love the songs as you really cannot go wrong with them, however the show was poorly cast and other than the group numbers, lacked in energy. I don’t want to bash an actor who clearly does possess talent but his characterisation was weak at best and his voice did not do justice to the songs. Sandy’s voice was amazing but they needed to turn the mic down as she completely overpowered Danny. There was no chemistry between the two main characters and in fact, Sandy was barely in it. Rizzo was more Catford than Rydell and all the characters seemed to be in some weird kind of open relationship. The best voice had to be ‘Rump’ but I have no idea who he was meant to be. Sandy’s big reveal was probably the most disappointing. I am watching the film today just to restore my faith in how truly fabulous it is. The West End is known for being exceptional and this does not live up to that reputation. It needs a rewrite, recast and rework. To leave on a positive, the dancing and group numbers were great and the rest of the pink ladies were brilliant. Oh and Kinicky was a perfect casting. Producers hang your head in shame and take note that all the reviews are saying the same thing.

VERY DISAPPOINTED

Whoever wrote the script for this musical could never have watched the movie. The scenes were out of sync, some of vocals were below par and Sandy should be blond! This is the fourth musical we have been to in the past six months and were totally disappointed and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The reason I gave two stars was for Peter Andres performance.

VERY DISAPPOINTING!

Most disappointing Wedt End show I’ve ever seen and I’ve probably seen in excess of 20 - individuals performed well but poorly scripted and casted, all very lack lustre

GREASE

We saw Grease yesterday 5 August and were very disappointed. Singers were screechy, story line was very different to the film which we love and the reason to go to the theatre. The only good point was the dancing. Would not recommend this show.

POOR!

We seen Grease Friday 4th of August, worst show I have seen. Very poor, scenes all over the place.

SADLY DISAPPOINTED

Sorry to the haters, but we travelled from Australia and saw the show. Very disappointed. Whilst the actors had great voices, they sang some of the songs and added their own touch and totally butchered it. As fans of Jason Donovan I think his part in the show was ridiculous. It was like a comedy event. The song he sang is a good song in the original movie and it was turned into a joke . Can understand that they changed the storyline but not sure why they added extra songs ie the song about grease! Sorry guys but overall very average.

VERY DISAPPOINTED

Seeing the posters around London, I went into this musical with low expectations and unfortunately they were met. The story line is not the same as the movie and the scenes are all over the place. I had no idea who the characters were because they didn't look like the originals, Sandy was hardly in it and Rizzo was way too over the top. The whole thing felt very cringy and amateurish. I was tempted to leave but I managed to stick it out.

VERY DISAPPOINTED WORST THEATRE SHOW EVER

Danny was very weak and not very enduring, he needed to stand out more, at times you couldn’t see who was who as they all looked the same. Sandy was very screechy and seemed to be trying too hard. Disappointed in Sandy’s change she didn’t look overly stunning or dramatic at all. The dancing was good. Not the best backdrops. I have seen many musicals in the past and this one was the worst. We paid £59 for matinee tickets. Totally overpriced. Seen better shows for much less. Vince Vontain was a breath of fresh air and very funny, if not for him it would off been 1 star.

GREASE

I’ve just seen it Thursday 14th September 2023 Dominion Theatre . I couldn’t quite put my finger on it but something didn’t fit . The dancing was amazing , singing voices were great , stage looked creative - I think it was the story line & songs , they didn’t make sense . The songs weren’t well known & the leads were confusing so you didn’t know who was who ( I initially assumed the cast were the understudies until after the interval Peter Andre & Jason Donovan made very brief appearances) On reflection I think the issue was with the script, sound & lighting, it may have been the casting but they did a good job . That said I didn’t enjoy it neither did any of the party I was with . I’d still recommend it as I think people should make their own minds up. Separate to the above I think the story line is dated and in need of a modern twist.

VERY DISAPPOINTED

The cast didn’t even look like the Grease actors? Sandy with dark hair? Regret that we even went back for second half and not rather go and watch the film again in our hotelroom! We saw Wicked the next evening and luckily it was in a different class.

ODD

First time I’d seen a show in london which was supposed to be highlight of the weekend but it was just weird. We went on Saturday the 7th October and near the end the cast just left the stage for about 15 minutes without explanation. They came back on for the final song which was disappointing then it ended. The scenes all over the place, nothing like the film and who told Danni to act like a hard man, more like west side story than grease. Not good! From props, staging, actors and singing all quite poor.

GREASE IS NOT THE WORD!

We sat through the evening performance on Saturday 7th May and we were stunned by how amateurish this production is. It is set in Rydell high school and it feels like you are watching a genuine high school production. The dialogue wanders so far away from the film story that at one point after falling out with Danny, not going to the dance with him and saying she never wants to see him again Sandy suddenly appear at the drive-in cinema with him so Danny has to explain to the audience how that happened. Talking of Danny the role and actor are so understated I actually kept forgetting who on the stage was Danny. The show is obviously written by someone who had never seen the film and was armed only with the soundtrack album and the original 1978 film trailer to go on. A truly forgettable show with the most lack lustre cast you'll ever see in the West End! Peter Andre couldn't drag the performance up with his attempt at adding comedy and strained vocals to the part of Vince Fontaine.

BEYOND AMATEUR

Went to see Grease last week, having snapped up a decent deal on tickets as part of an offer - really wish I hadn't! In all honesty, we didn't make it past the interval - we were so disappointed and the performance was genuinely cringeworthy, we made the decision to slip out. Having said that, at least we made it to the interval! At least two dozen people sitting around us got up and left throughout the first half and never came back, should give you an accurate depiction of how terrible it was. The only performance worthy of enduring is that of Sandy, fantastic voice! Honestly, that is literally the only positive from the show. Danny's vocals were shambolic and the actor just seemed to dissolve into the background - not very Danny Zuko-eqsue. In general, the dance numbers were good and Peter Andre did his best to inject a bit of life into what was a really sub-par show. Acting was likened to an actual school production. Don't waste your time!!

GREASE AT DOMINION

I was very disappointed when i saw the show last night. It lacked chemistry and the sound system seemed all wrong. Peter Andre in the background waving his arms about was just daft. Jason Donovan appeared for a very short time only. The casting could have been better. Danny was quite bland. Rizzo was brilliant but Sandy lacked personality and at the end when you expected a great dance I realised she couldnt dance either. Was a shame as the tickets were expensive and I was hoping for something to the standard of we will Rock you which I would definitely recommend alongside Phantom and Les Mis

TERRIBLE ... AVOID

Awfull performance. Poor shoehorned storyline not following either the movie or the esrlier stage play. Shameless cash in by inventing a role for peter andre and you can blink and miss jason donovan Love grease ? Dont watch this

1.0 star rating Harry T from Edinburgh Scotland

DON’T BOTHER

Good voices, good dancing but nothing like Grease. Characters are all different. It was confusing. Disappointing too much hype for this 1 star show

OH DEAR

If you’re a grease fan, DO NOT watch this. So many iconic moments ruined. Sandy was barely in it, the story line was all over the place. Couldn’t work out which character was which as they all looked the same, confusing as they’re all so different in the film! The acting, singing and dancing was amateur at best. I understand musicals add things, change some parts but this was just a whole other level. Why change something this iconic SO much? It wasn’t Grease, huge disappointment. Unfortunately not worth the time, journey, money and hotel.
