A brand new quartet of short plays wings its way to Caryl Churchill's favourite haunt
A favourite haunt of literary icon Caryl Churchill, the Royal Court Theatre presents a quartet of new plays by the celebrated playwright this autumn. Directed by frequent Churchill collaborator James McDonald with a stage design by German set designer Miriam Buether, little is known about the premiere production, but expect Churchill's trademark boundary pushing of language, richly complex examinations of contemporary social issues and surrealist interludes. Toby Jones, Deborah Findlay and Sarah Niles are set to star.
Hailed as British theatre's great disruptor, Churchill's fearless, adventurous spirit and natural urge to experiment has touched every one of her plays, which now number over 40. Her active political conscience collides with her innate sense of poetic drama, which has culminated in iconic plays like Top Girls, Cloud 9, Serious Money and Mad Forest.
