Brian Friel's Iconic Play Comes To London
Directed by Rachel O'Riordan, Brian Friel's Tony Award-winning play is revived at the Lyric Hammersmith. Faith Healer and tells the story in four monologues of titular faith healer Frank Hardy, who traveled the darkest corners of Britain, offering redemption to those in need. However, behind the scenes, all is not well. His supposed gift has caused a rift between him and his wife, as well as his manager. A tragic pattern emerges as each character offers their counterpoint to the story.
Told in four parts by Hardy himself, his wife, and his manager, Faith Healer explores the line between failure and genius. When failure is the only path available, Hardy faces a devastating reality as the enraged villagers extract their own brand of revenge on him for their ruined beliefs. Brian Friel's play has thrilled audiences worldwide since it first premiered in 1979. Make sure to grab your tickets to the 2024 revival of this classic play.
