Ncuti Gatwa and Sharon D Clarke Star In This Oscar Wilde Classic
The National Theatre presents a new telling of the classic Oscar Wilde comedy The Importance of Being Earnest' directed by Max Webster. Starring Ncuti Gatwa (Doctor Who, Sex Education) and Sharon D Clarke (Holby City, Rocketman), the production will play at the Lyttelton Theatre from 20 November 2024 to 25 January 2025.
What Is The Story?
Jack and Algy, two well-to-do bachelors in Victorian England, are wishing for some excitement in their lives. Both creating an alter ego named Earnest, Jack and Algy attempt to win the hearts of Gwendolyn and Cecily, two women who, conveniently, claim to only love men called Earnest. As the pair struggle to keep up with their stories, the foursome becomes entangled in a tale of deception and misadventure.
