Why see Girl From The North Country?

Limited Run!

By popular demand, Conor McPherson's stunning collaboration with Bob Dylan returns to London this summer. A tribute to his career and legacy in the most perfectly Dylan way possible, Girl From The North Country takes us on an anachronistic trip back in time to Depression-era Duluth, Minnesota, where a cast of characters from the man's mind and songs are waiting to take us on an extraordinary journey into the ordinary.

Songs from every age of Dylan are precisely woven around the story of a boarding house owner on the edge of ruin and the citizens of the town who flock to it. Some are there for the long haul, some are there fleetingly, but within each lies equal measures of tragedy, hope, and humanity.

Bereft of glossy sets and glitzy choreography, this 'play with songs' is a far cry from the usual jukebox musicals found in the West End and is all the better for it, receiving an incredible five Olivier Nominations. Fans of Dylan will enjoy the atmosphere and loving way his songs are evoked and revered.

Absolutely superb

We went to see this last night at the Alexandra Theatre in Birmingham. As most people, I think, we went to see it as longtime followers of Bob Dylan and we did not really know what to expect. I can honestly say it’s the best play I’ve ever seen. The actors were superb. Their voices were sublime. I found myself having to tell myself to breathe at times. If you ever get a chance to see this anywhere in the country please do. You do not need to be familiar with Bob Dylan to enjoy the show. ... Read more

Didn't know what to expect, just wanted to see it, glad I did. It was amazing, loved it from start to finish, I was totally wrapped up in the performance. I found it sad, funny, thought provoking, the cast were incredible. I can understand that it might not be to everyone's liking, but I would say give it a go, just for singing alone, the talent of the cast incredible. Ha 3 t enjoyed a show so much for ages. Would I recommend absolutely, would I go again definitely. Thank you to the entire cast and crew for a brilliant experience. ... Read more

Amazing- Catch it if YouCan.

What a wonderful way to spend a Saturday afternoon. The Bristol Hiippodrome stall seats re spacious and comfortable and we sat mesmerised by a story, lyrics and superb acting, singing and dancing. Yes you will feel sadness and despair but the performances, choreography and stage craft will lift your mood. I came out feeling I had more knowledge of life and Bob Dylan's songs than before. Do see it if you can. It is so important to give such brilliant actors an audience to show their talents. ... Read more
