Just For One Day

January 26 - March 30, 2024

From seeing Just For One Day throughout its development, if this musical encourages just one person to have a positive impact for the better, then it will be a job well done. I'm looking forward to seeing it at the Old Vic... it better not be s**t!

The Live Aid Musical

We can be us, just for one day

The enduring appeal of Live Aid will be tapped once more as this exciting new jukebox musical comes to The Old Vic in January 2024, offering audiences a look behind the scenes of the auspicious event and featuring a soundtrack that covers the day's biggest artists, including Queen, David Bowie, Elton John, U2, The Boomtown Rats, Diana Ross and many, many more.

Written by John O'Farrel (Mrs Doutfire) and directed by Luke Sheppard (&Juliet) Just For One Day also contributes to the Band Aid Charitable Trust's mission, with 10% of every ticket sale going to their ongoing charitable work, both globally and here at home.

July 13th 1985

With thousands packed into Wembley Stadium, and across the pond in Philadelphia's JFK Stadium, and millions more tuning in on TV or Radio, this sunny summer day became one of the most incredible in music history. 70 artists took to both stages across 16 hours, playing their hits, raising an incredible 127,000,000 (nearly 5m in today's money) for charity. Those old enough to remember (and maybe even lucky enough to be there) will always remember it, and for those younger, the day's historical significance has been explored in movies and TV, most recently as the last brilliant 10 minutes of the Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody.

Supported by a raft of Theatreland's biggest names, including Jamie Wilson Productions, Kevin McCollum, Sonia Friedman Productions, Gavin Kalin Productions, Kenny Wax Ltd, and the Ambassador Theatre Group, the new musical is set to capture the stories, nostalgia, and joy of the day, giving everyone a chance to experience the magic of Live Aid once more!
