COMPLEXITY AND SIMPLICITY COMBINE TO CREATE EXCELLENCE

Assassins is a curiously emotional Sondheim, one which combines a simple premise - motivation - with complex comedy & precise musical Americana. This production used a 2 sided set of flats that revolved, with a doorway, each turn bringing with it a new perspective on an old question - why? The performances were excellent, the director’s simple touches brilliant - Gerald Ford was so stupid he really couldn’t fart & walk at the same time - and the masks worked very well to convey each victim. Reagan’s repeated posing for the next shot was masterful. Thoroughly enjoyable 2 hours which I would like to live through again & again. See it!!
