There are moments in this play that are so shockingly provocative, so laugh-out-loud funny while simultaneously curl-into-a-ball-and cringe-worrying that I found my mouth was actually open.
What's On Stage
Returning to the London stage for the first time in nearly twenty years, Oscar-nominated actor Woody Harrelson is set to appear in David Ireland's award-winning satirical play, Ulster American. He will be joined by Andy Serkis (who you may know by a certain cough) and Derry Girls' Louisa Harland, playing an English theatre director and a Northern Irish playwright, respectively. The play first appeared at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2018 and was met with five-star reviews and riotous applause. Ulster American will be directed by the award-winning Jeremy Herrin, who recently directed Amy Adams in her West End debut. Make sure you catch this hilarious and provocative black comedy while you have the chance!
What's it about?
Ulster American follows a group of creatives as they attempt to stage a new play about a violent Protestant activist from Northern Ireland, and the tribulations and passionate disagreements that they face along the way.
