Cunning, clever and big-hearted - thats Figaro!
Rossini shows us all how it's done in this classic production from Jonathan Miller. No season is complete without at least one showing of this fizzling farce full of mischief, servants scheming against their masters and some good old-fashioned mistaken identity, all set to an uplifting and joyful score that begs recognition from the first bars. A true family favourite, this is a great opera to capture the imaginations of those new to the canon.
What is the story?
The story follows Figaro, the Barber of Seville and a self-made match-maker! His latest project is to ensure he can sprit away the beautiful Rosina to wed Count Almaviva, much to the dismay of her guardian Dr Bartolo who wants to marry her himself. Will love win the day, or will Figaro's cunning plans fail? Either way, it's a highly entertaining ride!
