SISTER ACT

Firstly , I want to apologise to all the actors, musicians, etc, for my review, because I know you’re all excellent at what you do!!!! However I fell asleep in parts and was soooooooo disappointed with the fact that the performance was nothing like the original film . As others have mentioned, if you go to watch something, you expect it to have some resemblance to the original film. I felt heartbroken that it didn’t. ( not one bit) As a catholic, who is inspired by the original movieI I find the musical in some parts absolutely offensive. I will unfortunately not be going to watch again ( unless the musical is rewritten so that everything that is amazing about the film is entwined into the musical.) I was brought up a catholic, my Aunty was a nun and my brother is a catholic priest. And I love the Pope, I was so upset with the script changes throughout the musical, it’s like why would you want to change it so that it doesn’t resemble the original film? Out of all the musicals I’ve watched( I’ve watched quite a few) I won’t recommend this to anybody.

TACKY AND OFFENSIVE

I have seen many musicals, but this was disappointing and offensive. As a Catholic and a singer, I get the showbiz slant, but the lyrics in some if the songs were offensive to some of the most sacred elements of Catholic faith. The singers and sets were good. None of the songs from the movie were included. Some of the costumes were OTT tacky, especially altar boys in skimpy outfits. This wasn't half as good as the movie, and written by people with no knowledge or respect for Christian faith. The whole comedic angle just did not work and religious life was ridiculed disgracefully. The policeman 's song was self pitying I will not reccomend this to friends.

LET DOWN

Don’t waste your money! No offence to the actors however the show was nothing like the film! Not a single song from the original films, no good feeling, the only feeling was frustration! Gutted!! Feeling let down and disappointed

DON'T GO IF YOU LOVE THE MOVIE!

I just saw the touring show tonight and I feel bad leaving this review as it has nothing to do with the cast, great performances by all but I had to give it 1 star because of the show itself, it was painful to watch. I love the movie and the songs make it, I booked the show excited to hear the upbeat gospel songs, but not 1 song was used. How can you have sister act with no 'aint no mountain high enough'!?. I couldn't get over it. Some great singers, awful songs. Songs make a musical, i'm sorry to say but this is the panto version of sister act. I couldn't wait until it was over unfortunately!

DISAPPOINTED!

I saw Sister Act for the first time in 2017 and it was one of my 3 favourite shows. I lost my second time in 2020 due to the COVID pandemic. Yes, this time I was looking forward to it immensely. However! Disappointed! I fell a little asleep during the show… I wanted to be excited to see the progress that Deloris and Mother understand each other, and to see the passion that sisters brought out in each other… The axis of the story is totally off. The characters of sisters Patrick and Robert are missing. By the way, my favourite is Sister Robert. Many songs are not according to the movie. Anyway, it’s a shame. I didn’t feel like getting up and shaking my body. I wonder if this is the meaning of the loss of Whoopi. I stopped recommending it to my son in Tokyo. He doesn’t know Sister Act of 2017, but he does know the movie, so perhaps his expectation will be disappointed.

WORST MUSICAL I HAVE EVER SEEN

I have seen many musicals and plays in my life. This is by far the worst I have ever see. And for the first time I didn't clap or stood at the end of the show to congratulate the whole cast. This musical has nothing to do with the movie. The director decided to create a new story but keeping the original name. This misleads a lot of theatre goers. There was no a single song that was sang in the movie. The script and costumes made fun of Christianity. It is fine not to be religious, but a different thing is to make fun of a religion (no matter which religion).
