The Wizard of Oz Reviews

CHEAP & ANNOYING
I walked out after half an hour, it is terrible. This seems to have been upscaled from a secondary school production judging by the 'set' (mainly a back projection) and synthesiser music. Very loud, shouty and awful. The classic songs are mangled, don't expect anything uplifting. Even the Munchkins are weird, including full size old bald men wearing party hats. So strange.

LACK LUSTRE LET DOWN
Oh my what a let down, Si-Fi meets panto. Where in the story did Dorothy ever go to the poppy hotel with the cast standing around with red lampshades on their heads. Come on we pay enough for the tickets give us a show with a decent set and props and a producer who doesn't want to change a classic in to a chaotic senseless mess

WORST SHOW EVER
How could you get this so wrong! Just when I thought it couldn't get any worse, it did! Very much an amateur production then a West End show. Dorothy was played with no character or passion. The production was 1950's steampunk mixed in with the TV show the Jets! When Glenda the witch came on stage in a scooter I noped out of there! It was like the local high school had put on a production and the drama teacher got a bit too creative! I could go on and go about awful this show was. Please don't waste your money!

WIZARD OF OZ
I was really looking forward to watching one of my all time favourites but was sadly very disappointed from the start as it was nothing like what I expected, I was that disappointed I very nearly didn’t come back in to watch the rest after half time but thought we’ll the tickets cost me enough so continued but as I expected it didn’t get any better, the only actor that deserved a round of applause was The Lion who was played by Jason Manford. I wish I had read these reviews first and I certainly wouldn’t have wasted my time and money to come and watch it.

DREADFUL
Four of us went to see this on Saturday and all of us decided to leVe at the interval including our 9 year old. Too loud, too cinematic, Ashley Banjo can dance but can't sing and Dorothy was completely miscast. She looks too old for the role and doesnt have any wistfulness in her voice when singing Over The Rainbow. She is undoubtedly talented but this is the wrong role for her. One of the worst shows I've seen in a long time and I go to the London theatre regularly. Save your money and go and see Crazy for you instead whoch was fabulous.

THE WIZARD OF OZ IN LONDON PALLADIUM
Very very disappointed in the show. No special effects very basic . I seen the Andrew Lloyd webber one 10 years ago which was amazing so don't go back to see this one as not even on the same level. Overall extremely disappointed

OFF TO SEE THE WIZARD? DON’T BOTHER
Where to start. Appaling sound design, Manford (poorly) mimicking Lahr with zero originality, bringing nothing to the role, Banjo’s tone deaf ‘singing’. And then there’s the worst audience behaviour ever experienced- and it’s not the kids who are the problem here. We escaped barely intact at the interval. Theatre in autopilot. Grim ⭐️
