Dates Announced for Oedipus starring Remi Malik and Indira Varma

The Ella Hickson Adaption will be running from January to March 2025

Exact dates for Ella Hickson's adaption of Oedipus at The Old Vic starring Academy Award winner Rami Malek (Bohemian Rhapsody) and Olivier Award winner Indira Varma (Game of Thrones), have been announced. The 2025 show will run from January 21 to March 29, with a press night occurring on February 4th.

This is London's second Oedipus in two years, with 2024's offering from Robert Icke at the Wyndham's Theatre now on sale with Mark Strong and Leslie Manville here

Best known for his portrayal of Freddie Mercury in the 2018 Queen biopic Bohemian Rhapsody, Rami Malik will be stepping off the silver screen and onto the stage for this new version of Oedipus. Joining him is Game of Thrones actress and Olivier Award winner Indira Varma.

This Greek classic is sure to have you gripped, with co-director Matthew Warchus noting: "Sophocles' play, [is] arguably the best-plotted tale ever".

Written by Sophocles in 429 BC, this epic tragedy explores the nature of fate and the perils of hubris. Born to King Laius and Queen Jocasta of Thebes, Oedipus faces a grim prophecy predicting he will kill his father and marry his mother. This Greek mythological play explores topics of fate and free will, with tragic consequences.
