Guys and Dolls Reveals New Cast & Sets Closing Date

But luck be a lady, there’s still plenty of time to see it!
Since March 2023, the all-awesome, immersive production of Guys & Dolls has been rocking the Bridge Theatre (literally - the stage rolls around the room!). The show has garnered substantial praise and won several awards, including a Tony, and is now slated to play its final performance on 4 January 2025. Before that, however, it will welcome some key cast changes beginning on 2 September 2024.
Who is joining the show?
Gina Beck, famous for her performances in Wicked and The Phantom of the Opera, will step into the role of Sarah Brown, taking over from Celinde Schoenmaker, who has portrayed the character since the show's opening.
Additionally, Michael Simkins, known for his work in Yes, Prime Minister and The Iron Lady, will assume the role of Arvide Abernathy, replacing the esteemed Niall Buggy. Schoenmaker and Buggy are scheduled to give their final performances on 31 August 2024.
Beck's previous stage credits include Matilda, The Sound of Music, Show Boat, Wicked, The Phantom of the Opera, and Les Misrables among others, while Simkins has previously appeared in John Gabriel Borkman, Backstairs Billy, The Unfriend, Yes, Prime Minister and Mamma Mia!.
What is the story?
This musical comedy, featuring a score by Frank Loesser and a book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, weaves a story of two contrasting love stories in mid-century New York City: the first between the suave gambler Sky Masterson and the earnest mission worker Sarah Brown, and the second involving Nathan Detroit, the organizer of the city's oldest floating crap game, and his long-time fiance Miss Adelaide, a nightclub performer yearning for marriage after a 14-year engagement.
Sky Masterson is challenged to win a bet that he can persuade the morally upright Sarah Brown to accompany him on a date to Havana. Meanwhile, Nathan Detroit faces pressure to secure a venue for his illegal gambling operation while striving to maintain his relationship with the perpetually engaged Adelaide. Amidst the bustling streets and smoky dens of New York, these characters navigate a whirlwind of misadventures, unexpected encounters, and heartfelt moments that shape their destinies.
