Broadsky/Baryshnikov

Broadsky/Baryshnikov at Apollo Theatre

Why see Broadsky/Baryshnikov?

A strictly limited run

This acclaimed one-man show, performed entirely in Russian is based on the poems of Latvian Nobel laureate Joseph Brodsky and performed by Mikhail Baryshnikov. First premiering in 2015 in Riga, this project was conceived and helmed by Alvis Hermanis, noted director of Latvia's New Riga Theatre Brodsky. Having already played in New York as part of its international tour, it makes its visit to London in May for a strictly limited engagement of four performances only.

Former ballet dancer, and friend of Brodsky, Mikhail Baryshnikov both recites the laureate's gloomy and stirring poetry, whilst using his elegant dance experience to add movement to the performance, which is set within a decrepit gazebo. Not a biography, but more of a tribute to Brodsky's haunting works, fans of the writer should not miss this elegant performance.
