A stage adaptation of Barbara Pym's Quartet in Autumn!
Directed by Dominic Dromgoole, former Artistic Director of Shakespeare's Globe and the Bush Theatre, this world-premiere stage adaptation of Barbara Pym's Quartet in Autumn arrives at London's Arcola Theatre! Booker Prize-winning author Samantha Harvey adapts Pym's beloved novel into a stage story about four people who come together to confront loneliness and ageing.
In 1970s London, four co-workers edge toward retirement while trying to make sense of lives that feel increasingly uncertain. As the seasons change, they cling to familiar routines and quiet rituals that keep them moving forward.
Marcia retreats into isolation and stockpiles tins in her flat. Letty longs for a life beyond the one she knows. Widower Edwin seeks comfort in the church, while Norman lashes out at the modern world around him, but perhaps it is a delicate friendship that is needed to confront the passing of time.
Please note: The producers can't guarantee the appearance of any performers on any specific date.
